How to Build Your First MLM Blog: Register a Domain Name
Registering a Domain Name, Purchasing Web Hosting or Editing Name Servers may seem quite intimidating and downright scary when building your first MLM Blog or website. There are so many people that think that they do not have the technical knowledge or that it is too hard to build a blog.
Let me assure you that building your first blog is not as hard is it may seem and you could very easily get a WordPress blog up and running in less than 30 minutes and posting your first piece of content.
I have created this WordPress blog building tutorial designed with a newbie in mind. This is the exact process I use to build my blog and you can use as a blueprint to start yours.
Register a Domain Name
The First thing you will want to do is Register a Domain Name. A Domain Name is basically the web address that can be used on the Internet. It’s what you see in the address bar after the “www.” in your web browser and it’s what comes after the @ sign in an email address. Domain Names are likened to phone numbers, the Domain Name system helps to give every Internet server a memorable and easy-to-spell address. For example “Google.com” or “JeffKnowles.com” is a domain name.
When choosing a Domain Namee, think about how you want to brand your blog. You can choose a name related to your blog’s theme or niche, you could choose to brand with your own name, or you could make up a name that sound cool. My suggestion is to choose a “brandable domain name”. You want your visitors to easily remember your website which will help repeat traffic.
Usually “.com” is preferable to other domain extensions such as “.net”. Everyone thinks of “.com” first but if “.net” is the only thing available, you should be fine.Try not to use abbreviations unless it’s very well known. Don’t use numbers and don’t make it too long (2 or 3 words max and no more than 4 words)
There are hundreds of places on the internet to register a Domain Name. I purchase all my domain names from GoDaddy.com. I think this is the best Domain Name registrar. Here I can manage all my domain names, and there are always coupons or discounts to purchase domain names.
You can check on the availability of your domain name at GoDaddy.com.
I like to keep my Domain Name separate from my web host in case I ever need to switch web hosts. When you switch registrars, you can experience prolonged downtime of your blog which you do not want.
GoDaddy.com is a low cost provider with excellent service ($10/year). It is important to know that Google search engine gives more favor to sites who have bought their domain for longer than 1 year.

Oh, man. Those domain names. There are some people out there who would choose to include some keywords in their domains. If you ask me, I’d trust the catchy ones more than those with the keywords. I mean, people would click your site, JeffKnowles.com, rather than blogbuilding101.com or something along that line, right?
