I have created this WordPress Blog Building Tutorial designed with a newbie in mind. This is the exact process I use to build my blog and you can use as a blueprint to start yours.

Changing NameServers

Changing your Nameservers may seem a little daunting at first but it is a relatively simple process that should only take you a few minutes to complete.

The first two steps should have already been completed as at described in the first two lessons of this series.

1. Choose a Domain Name for your WordPress Blog.  If you are serious about making money with your WordPress Blog, you’ll want to have your own domain name.  My recommendation for a domain registrar is GoDaddy.com.
2. Sign Up With A Web Host.  A Web Host is a company that will store all of the files of your blog and serve them via the web to your readers. I recommend HostGator.  They have excellent customer service and support at an excellent price. Choose a plan that will suit your current and near future goals.
3. After you have completed your host plan purchase,  HostGator will send you a confirmation email thanking you for your purchase and will automatically send you the information about your hosting account such as your Cpanel login name, Cpanel password, and Nameservers.
4. Go to Godaddy once again, and log in.
5. From the top navigation bar, choose “Domains,” and choose “Domain Management” from the drop-down menu.
6. A new page or tab (depending on your browser) will open up, listing all of the domains you’ve purchased from GoDaddy. Check the box next to the one you want to host on HostGator.
7. Place a check mark next to the domain you wish to modify. When you check the box, a navigation bar will fill in above the domain name list. Click “Nameservers” and click on the Set Nameservers option.
8. This will open up a new section at the top of your screen. From the radio buttons, choose “I have specific Nameservers for my domains.”
9. Open up the saved email that HostGator sent to you, and find the section that says, “Your Nameservers:”
10. In the GoDaddy nameservers control panel, replace the nameserver in the “nameserver 1″ box with the first value that HostGator sent you. It should look something like XXXXXX.hostgator.com (with the Xs being your unique values that HostGator gave you).
11. Next, replace the nameserver in the “nameserver 2″ box with the second value that HostGator sent you. It should look something like XXXXXX.hostgator.com (with the Xs being your unique values that HostGator gave you). Click the orange “Okay” button to finish the process.
12. Log into your HostGator account, and add your GoDaddy domain to your hosting plan and you’re done.
13.  Any time you make a DNS (domain nameserver) change it takes around 24-72 hours to complete. During this propogation time routers all over the world are updating their cache. This causes your site to be up and down randomly during the first 72 hours for different people at different times. Think of DNS like a zip code. If you don’t put a zip code on your mail the post office doesn’t know where to send it. Domains are the same way if they don’t have the DNS the internet doesn’t know what server to send your request to.

Purchasing Web Hosting is the second step to Building Your First MLM Blog. In the previous lesson, I talked about the importance of having your own website and went through the process of Registering Your Domain Name. In this lesson, I will explain some of the technical details of Purchasing Web Hosting  and the process of setting up a WordPress Blog.

I have created this WordPress Blog Building Tutorial designed with a newbie in mind.  This is the exact process I use to build my blog and you can use as a blueprint to start yours.

Purchase Web Hosting

Web Hosting is where you store all your files necessary for your website to function.   You’ll need to purchase web hosting for your website.  This means there is a small monetary investment.

You might be wondering if you could use a freebie hosting service such as Blogger.com. Tumblr.com or WordPress.com.

To be honest, using a free hosting package is the worst mistake you can make online.  There are many reasons for this.  One in particular, is that with a free site you have zero control over this property.  That means they can take it down without any reason.  This can be a horrible experience -  Especially if your web property is earning income. Another reason is that you can’t customize your site nearly as much as one that you own.

My advice?  Pay a little money to get a quality web hosting service.

I recommend one site for your hosting needs: Host Gator.

Registering a Domain Name, Purchasing Web Hosting or Editing Name Servers  may seem quite intimidating and downright scary when building your first MLM Blog or website. There are so many people that think that they do not have the technical knowledge or that it is too hard to build a blog.

Let me assure you that building your first blog is not as hard is it may seem and you could very easily get a WordPress blog up and running in less than 30 minutes and posting your first piece of content.

I have created this WordPress blog building tutorial designed with a newbie in mind.  This is the exact process I use to build my blog and you can use as a blueprint to start yours.

Register a Domain Name

The First thing you will want to do is Register a Domain Name.  A Domain Name is basically the web address that can be used on the Internet. It’s what you see in the address bar after the “www.” in your web browser and it’s what comes after the @ sign in an email address. Domain Names are likened to phone numbers, the Domain Name system helps to give every Internet server a memorable and easy-to-spell address. For example “Google.com” or “JeffKnowles.com” is a domain name.

When choosing a Domain Namee, think about how you want to brand your blog. You can choose a name related to your blog’s theme or niche, you could choose to brand with your own name, or you could make up a name that sound cool. My suggestion is to choose a “brandable domain name”.  You want your visitors to easily remember your website which will help repeat traffic.

Usually “.com” is preferable to other domain extensions such as “.net”. Everyone thinks of  “.com” first but if “.net”  is the only thing available, you should be fine.Try not to use abbreviations unless it’s very well known. Don’t use numbers and don’t make it too long (2 or 3 words max and no more than 4 words)

There are hundreds of places on the internet to register a Domain Name. I purchase all my domain names from GoDaddy.com.  I think this is the best Domain Name registrar.  Here I can manage all my domain names, and there are always coupons or discounts to purchase domain names.

You can check on the availability of your domain name at GoDaddy.com.

I like to keep my Domain Name separate from my web host in case I ever need to switch web hosts. When you switch registrars, you can experience prolonged downtime of your blog which you do not want.

GoDaddy.com is a low cost provider with excellent service ($10/year). It is important to know that Google search engine gives more favor to sites who have bought their domain for longer than 1 year.

After you’ve registered your Domain Name, the next step is to get it hosted.  I’ll be sharing the important facts with you about Purchasing Web Hosting  in the next lesson.

A lecturer, when explaining stress management to an audience, raised a glass of water and asked

‘How heavy is this glass of water?’

Answers called out ranged from 1/2oz to 2oz.

The lecturer replied, ‘The absolute weight doesn’t matter.

It depends on how long you try to hold it.
If I hold it for a minute, that’s not a problem.

Here are some great ways of dealing with the burdens of life:

• Accept that some days you’re the pigeon,

• Always wear stuff that will make you look good in case you have to die in it.
• If you can’t be kind, at least have the decency to be vague.
• If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again,
  it was probably worth it.
• It may be that your sole purpose in life
  is simply to be kind to others.
• Nobody cares if you can’t dance well.
  Just get up and dance.
• Since it’s the early worm that gets eaten by the bird,
  sleep late.
• Birthdays are good for you.
  The more you have, the longer you live.
• You may be only one person in the world,
  but you may also be the world to one person.
• Some mistakes are too much fun to make only once.
• We could learn a lot from crayons … some are sharp, some are pretty, some are dull,
  some have weird names and all are different colours, but they all have to live in the same box.
• A truly happy person is one who enjoys the scenery on a detour.

Alexa is a web company that collects data on websites and publishes the ranking of websites from number 1 (Google) to number 2 (Facebook) to number 1,818,241 (this site) to over 5 million based on the traffic they get.

No matter what you are selling on the internet, your Alexa ranking is a measure of your trustworthiness and saleability!

Higher ranks on Alexa indicate that you have higher levels of traffic to your site compared to your competitors. It translates into higher reputation and earnings.  Alexa only gauges traffic amongt people who have the Alexa toolbar installed and also the backlinks. However, since it is an indicator of your site’s reputation and popularity – you might very well need to look into how you can improve your rank!

1. Alexa Toolbar or Alexa Statusbar – An Absolute Must

Since your rankings are directly affected by what the toolbar makes of it, this is a foregone conclusion. Download both the Firefox and the Internet Explorer versions. Remember to set your website as the homepage in the browsers. Also make sure that you use BOTH the browsers whenever you are online. This way, you can end up appearing as 2 different users, simply because you have 2 different toolbar ids.

2. Get the Alexa Widget

It might be a good idea to install the Alexa rank widget too. Once you install it on your blog and traffic starts flowing you will see an increase in Alexa rankings even if the visitors do not have the Alexa toolbar installed. This definitely helps you get better ranking on Alexa. Different types of alexa widgets are available at: http://www.alexa.com/siteowners/widgets

3. Exchange Links

Another simple way of increasing your rankings on Alexa is to exchange your links with other sites that are relevant to yours. Even if they are some other niche it is okay. Just make sure they have a good ranking on Alexa themselves. This is a simple way of ensuring that you are in good company and raising your rank.

4. Post Frequently and Interlink Posts

Regular frequent posting has positive effect on your Alexa ranking though the reason is not clear. Some bloggers say Alexa checks post frequency but at the same time updating your blog several times a day is not good. Interlinking posts is another good idea for boosting your rankings. Interlinking posts increases traffic, lowers bounce rate and thereby boosts Alexa.

5. Write about Alexa

One easy and surefire way of increasing your rankings is to write about Alexa itself! People LOVE to know more about how to improve their rankings – so you always get relevant traffic to your site that way!

6. Attract Webmasters

You could also write content that is relevant to other webmasters. Think SEO, tools for webmasters and other topics that generally interest webmasters. Most webmasters and tech bloggers have an Alexa toolbar installed so your rankings go up automatically!

There’s no doubt about the fact that a good ranking increases your popularity (which itself has a viral effect) – not to mention the feel good factor and more advertisement!

7. Backlink Building

This is essential if you want to build your Alexa rank. You can build back links through article marketing, forum signatures, guest posting and social bookmarking sites such as Digg or Stumbleupon.
